Stew with bone broth — a comforting meal for the whole family

The ultimate comfort meal

Some dishes feel like a warm blanket. This stew is one of those: soft, nourishing, and full of flavor, without having to spend hours in the kitchen. What makes it special? The bone broth in which everything gently simmers — it not only adds extra depth to the flavor but also a good dose of collagen, minerals, and amino acids.

This recipe was created in our own kitchen, for our daughter. When she started solid foods, we wanted something easily digestible, full of nutrients, and that she simply liked. Now we make it for ourselves too — just in bigger pieces and with some extra herbs.

Why use HANT bone broth and marrow fat?

Our bone broth is simmered for 32 hours from halal beef bones. This makes it full of natural gelatin, collagen, and minerals that are missing in regular broth cubes. For babies, this is especially valuable because it has a mild flavor and is easy to digest.

The marrow fat (tallow) used to stew the vegetables is pure beef bone marrow fat — rich in fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) and perfect for warm preparations because it withstands high temperatures without oxidizing.

Ingredients (2 adults + 1 baby)

  • 1 chicken breast
  • 1 small sweet potato
  • ½ broccoli
  • 1 tsp HANT marrow fat (or a bit of butter / olive oil)
  • 1 to 2 tbsp bone broth for children, 2 to 3 tbsp for adults
  • A splash of water
  • Pinch of salt and pepper (omit for babies under 12 months)
  • Optional: HANT olive oil to finish

Preparation

  1. Cut everything into small cubes — chicken breast, sweet potato, and broccoli. For babies, a bit finer; for adults, it can be chunkier.
  2. Melt the marrow fat in a pan and gently stew everything for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add a splash of water along with 1-2 tablespoons of HANT bone broth (or 2-3 for adults).
  4. Let simmer gently for 15 to 20 minutes with the lid on, until everything is cooked and soft.
  5. Mash with a fork or roughly blend — depending on the age of the eater.
  6. Finish with a splash of HANT olive oil for extra softness.

Variations

No chicken at home or want something different? Try:

  • Beef version — beef, parsnip, green beans, and cauliflower
  • Fish version — white fish, carrot, parsnip, spinach, and peas
  • Veggie — chickpeas, carrot, zucchini, and sweet potato

Storage

The stew stays good for 2-3 days in the fridge in a sealed container. You can also freeze it in portions — handy for baby food. An ice cube tray works perfectly for small portions.
