MELICAO is a natural chocolate substitute based on 90% organic European flower honey from Bulgaria and 10% organic cocoa from Peru. The honey is only lightly heated for spreadability, so flavor and nutrients are maximally preserved.

A pure combination without added sugars, without palm oil, and without unnecessary additives. Just a jar of natural energy with real cocoa flavor.

Raw honey is not (highly) heated or industrially processed. This means all natural substances are preserved: enzymes, antioxidants, pollen, vitamins, and minerals.

Most supermarket honey is heated or blended, causing these valuable properties and flavors to be largely lost.

No blend of questionable origin: The honey in MELICAO is 100% organic and sourced from the EU (Bulgaria). No mixing with non-EU honey or refined sugars. The cocoa comes from Peru and is also organic.

Very lightly heated: Only gently warmed to make the texture spreadable. Not industrially heated like commercial spreads, so most nutrients are preserved.

Unfiltered: The honey is minimally processed. Pollen and enzymes remain intact – just like the natural power of raw honey.

Raw honey naturally crystallizes. This is a good sign – it means the honey is genuine and unheated. Want to make the honey slightly liquid again? You can do this easily without damaging the beneficial substances.

Here’s how to do it safely:
– Place the closed jar in a bowl of warm water (au bain-marie)
– Make sure the water does not get warmer than 40 °C
– Let it warm slowly until the desired texture is reached
– Stir gently if needed

Why a maximum of 40 °C?
Above 40–42 °C, enzymes, antioxidants, and flavor compounds are lost. By heating slowly and gently, you preserve all valuable nutrients.

Crystallization is therefore not a flaw, but rather proof of quality.
